Hannah Blake

Hannah Blake is the founder of Somaya and Director of Programming at HOLOS Global. She is driven by a calling home toward herself. Within that drive, she recognizes personal freedom as the inertia by which we arrive there. Her creation of Somaya, a potent movement meditation methodology, incapsulates this.

Hannah began her career as a professional dancer, and traveled the globe dancing with masters from around the world, under the mentorship of Debbie Allen. At age 16, her relationship with dance dramatically changed when the Obama Administration hired her to travel to the Middle East on a mission to bridge gaps between American and Omani culture through dance. It was there that she first realized that movement is more than a performing art – it’s a tool for personal and collective healing, transformation and freedom.

Hannah went on to study World Arts and Cultures, Psychobiology and Art Therapy at UCLA. She graduated in 3 years, Summa Cum Laude, after exploring the body as the subconscious mind, developing a deep understanding of movement as therapy, and investigating the psycho-somatic connection.

A couple years after graduating, she landed in the hospital with severe inflammation in her small intestine. The doctors diagnosed her with Crohn’s Disease. As a dancer, she always thought she’d known her body, but this was a huge wakeup call, signaling she hadn’t been truly listening. Now, she was ready to…

Instead of pursuing the traditional medical route, Hannah took this as an opportunity to explore her own body as her subconscious mind – harnessing the pain as a roadmap into deeper self understanding. Within the journey of fully healing herself naturally, she birthed The Kaia Method, which has since been renamed to Somaya. “Soma” = Body, “Aya” = Spirit. Hannah shares the method across the globe, privately, in workshops, and at global festivals, supporting people from all over the world to release themselves from various physiological and emotional blockages, while taking them into higher states of consciousness, and worlds of boundless reclamation, inner freedom and wholeness.
